Alternative Pathways

A new way to succeed

The Alternative Pathways Program (APP) gives highly motivated students an accelerated route to a career. Instead of the usual A Level pathway, Form 4 graduates are supported to complete a certificate or diploma in growth industries.

A Two-Part Program

Like our longstanding Beyond St Jude’s Program for Form 6 graduates, the APP consists of two components; first, a Community Service Semester (CSS) and then a College Program.

Our BSJ and Academic teams have carefully selected educational institutions and courses within Tanzania that will provide quality education for our BSJ College scholars, ensuring that support for their education continues to have maximum impact.

College Studies

The APP is open to students who are committed to careers within certain, highly employable industries.
Fields of study available to BSJ College scholars include agriculture, engineering, IT, nursing, allied health, and hospitality. These are areas of need within the Tanzanian labour market; consequently, research shows that rates of employability within these areas are high.

Support for APP Participants

A College Scholarship supports our graduates to continue on a transformative path, helping to cover their tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, study materials and costs for examinations.

The BSJ team provides year-round support to college scholars and visits them at their higher education institution, to ensure their study conditions are satisfactory.
